U.S. men's national team forward Haji Wright scored his fifth goal for Coventry City since returning from injury in March in a 3-1 loss to Plymouth on Monday. The strike, scored in the 45th minute, brought his season total to 12 for the .
Despite the goal, it was a poor performance from Frank Lampard's men, who fell to a Plymouth side sitting last in the Championship table. It was a result that handed them a blow in the race to secure a promotion playoff spot as well. At the end of the Matchday, they sit on 66 points in the sixth and final playoff spot, but dropping points allowed the likes of Middlesbrough and Millwall, who sit in sixth and seventh, to close in on them after both teams secured a result on Monday.

Wright was sidelined from early November into March due to injury, missing the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals and finals with the USMNT. However, he made his debut under Mauricio Pochettino last October, recording an assist in a 2-0 victory over Panama, and featured off the bench in a 2-0 loss to Mexico as well.
His form of late for the , along with the poor attacking showings from the U.S. in March on the international stage, could open up the opportunity for the 26-year-old this summer to break into the XI under Pochettino. The USMNT have two international friendlies in early June, and then will go on to compete in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
