The club decided against renewing his contract, so on Tuesday, De Bruyne played his last game for City at the Etihad in their 3-1 win over Bournemouth. During the 33-year-old's leaving presentation on the pitch, manager Guardiola was reduced to tears.

De Bruyne will arguably go down as City's greatest ever player. And to mark his legendary status, the club have announced they will build a special statue of the attacking midfielder outside the Etihad after a decade of "incredible" service.
On this honour, he said: “It means I will always be part of this club. Whenever I come back with family and friends, I will be able to see myself so I will always be here.”

Over the course of 421 appearances for City, De Bruyne has scored 108 goals and notched 177 assists. He has also won a Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup, six Premier Leagues, five Carabao Cups, and two FA Cups in a glittering spell with the club.
