Arsenal have completed their first transfer business of the summer, with a Serie A side parting with €5m to sign a loanee full-back permanently.

Nuno Tavares signed for the Gunners in 2021 and been on loan at Lazio this season, with the Italian giants taking up their option to sign him permanently, according to Radiosei. The €5m clause was written into the initial loan deal and has now been activated.

Tavares has impressed for Lazio this season, registering nine assists across Serie A and the Europa League. But despite completing a permanent move, there are no guarantees he will be with the club next season.

According to the report, Lazio will now assess the market to see whether they can sell Tavares on for a much bigger fee this summer. The club would be looking for €35-40m to sell him.

Lazio still have a shot at qualifying for the Champions League by finishing in the top four of Serie A and must beat Lecce on Sunday to give themselves a chance of overtaking Juventus and Roma. They know that a victory would at least bank them Conference League qualification.
