Wirtz has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, amid strong interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid. According to , the attacking midfielder has made up his mind on his next destination as he is all set to join newly crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern.

The report adds that the player has already informed Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso about his decision to move to the Bavarian club. His father and advisor Hans shares a close relationship with Bayern chief Uli Hoeness, and they have reportedly discussed a potential move for the player, whose current contract runs until 2027. The two German clubs are now set to negotiate a deal in the coming weeks for Wirtz, who has a €125 million (£106m/$142m) release clause.
